TMJ Treatment
TMD "TMJ" and Occlusal Therapy
Your “bite” or how your teeth fit together is a priority in our office. Many common dental problems stem from disharmony between your “meshing bite” and where the hinge of your jaw comes together when you bite.
When your bite forces your jaw joints into an unnatural position, problems can occur, including: headaches, facial and joint pain, muscle tightness, worn tooth surfaces, broken dental work, loose teeth, and more. Proper techniques utilizing plaster models of your mouth on a jaw simulator allow precise analysis of your bite.
Once analyzed, recommended therapy can be planned and implemented. Usually, that adds up to nighttime bite appliances and/or moderate adjustments to the teeth so they come together without displacing the jaw joints.
Patient Education Software
Dr. Carley uses a patient education software called BiteFX to better educate his patients as to what is happening with their jaw. The software uses easy to understand videos that help to easily explain concepts that were previously difficult to communicate.
